30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 13} Music Scene Two

I couldn’t decide which song to write about today. So, I had to pick the song that I’ve been singing to myself for days.

If you’re a Chris Thile fan, don’t watch How to Grow a Band. Trust me. The logline should be: A Machiavellian mandolin player emotionally cripples bandmates.

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 12} Art Scene Two

My second Art Scene! This is exciting, you guys! Mostly because I’m using Hunny’s art, but also because I haven’t given up on this series. I usually let life get in the way and take a breather, but this time I’m not. Even though my 30 Days will extend into May, I’m still sharing my scenes with you.

I used to cut pictures out of magazines and stick them up on a cork board for inspiration. I cut out a picture of a flower and Hunny liked it. He liked it so much that he decided to paint it. When it didn’t sell at an Art Show, Hunny said that I could have it. He’s regretted it when people have offered to buy it, but he said it was mine. Do you think I should let him sell it?

Untitled Flower

This is the inspiration for today’s scene.

I like pink roses. Any shade of pink. Hunny has bought wildflowers for me before, but now that we have Yeeyum, who has allergies, we’ll have to stick with roses.

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 11} Bon Mot Scenes 1 & 2

Day Nine was supposed to be a dialogue driven scene, but I couldn’t post it because I didn’t have my laptop. I decided to give you a “two for one” today. Here is the scene for Day Nine:

Now that I’ve recuperated from whatever strange bug I had, I caught Yeeyum’s stomach virus. The joys of motherhood *sigh*

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 9} Snafu

Hunny forgot our laptop at church. My screenwriting software is on said laptop. The scene for today is on the laptop, too.

At least, Hunny rented The Mighty Ducks. I loved that movie as a kid. I’m not a fan of hockey or sports movies, which speaks to the writing of this movie. The question remains, though: Will I like it as an adult?

Hopefully, we’ll get our laptop tomorrow!

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 8} Genre Scene 1

You guys. I hit a wall. I totally could NOT come up with anything today. Nothin’. Nada. Zip. So I fudged a little. I’m using a scene that I wrote years ago for a contest. I wasn’t even a finalist in it, but I tried!

The genre is Thriller.

Hopefully, I’ll get my creative juices going for tomorrow’s scene.

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 7} Autobiographical Scene One

I haven’t been feeling well today, so I thought an autobiographical scene would be easy for me. This happened shortly after Christmas. Sadly, I did not take any dramatic license with this one.

Although I did play it safe, I still ended up sorry.

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 6} Whatevs Scene One

This past weekend sucked. There really isn’t a better description for it. Other than a few bright spots, it was a crap fest.

I decided to use my Whatevs category to write a love letter to myself and to you. If you’re feeling bad, if  other people’s expectations of you are wearing you down, if the comments from others are crippling, then this is for you. This is for us.

A little reminder that His all encompassing love for us is more than the circumstances of our life. His love is more than enough. We are enough to Him.

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 5} Photograph Scene 1

Even though my descent originates from the British Isles and Germany, I have always felt attached to Native American culture. Maybe I wouldn’t feel this way if my mom didn’t take us to Pow Wows growing up.

This is an image that I pinned on Pinterest months ago. It reminded me of a documentary I saw about a man who was the last of his tribe. He lived in the mountains as a hermit and did not venture into society until he felt he was dying and needed help. I thought it would be interesting to write a movie from his perspective.

30 Days, 30 Scenes {Day 1} Art Scene 1

Today was NOT the best day to start this series. Hunny has some sort of flu thing. Yeeyum has some sort of stomach thing. Our sole vehicle is getting work done on it, and we’re borrowing a Jeep that is a manual transmission, which I don’t know how to drive. Cupcake had a violent allergic reaction to some soap her grandmother gave her (It was Crabtree and Evelyn, so who knows to which ingredient she’s allergic!). I have been working on one scene for the better part of a day, but I don’t know how long it would be if you distilled the time I was working from the time I was interrupted and had to tend to sick people, messes, and the like.

This scene is based on a mixed media piece called “Katy Nelson.”  It features buildings from downtown Asheville, NC.

Here is the scene for today.
